Gary and Mark Tarakanov put their combined 50 years of experience in the optics industry to use when they founded AGM Global Vision in 2018. Rather than making a wide variety of optics, AGM has gone on to develop day/night weapon sights and optics using night vision, fusion imaging, and thermal technology. New for 2024 is the Seeker Thermal Monocular, an update to the firm’s renowned Taipan model.
The AGM Seeker monocular line retains the same housing and oversized eyepiece of the original Taipan monocular, but the glass, sensors, and battery pack have been updated for crisper resolution and nighttime pickup of heat signatures.
The Seeker has a fixed battery that works in tandem with a backup rechargeable 18650 battery for up to 6.5 hours of battery life. This model has a new 12-micron sub-20mk thermal sensor. The interface of the Seeker has also been upgraded for faster use. This includes an updated menu and a 90-degree tilt sensor with an enabled built-in audio recording to annotate the images on record.
The Seeker series is available with three different lens and magnification capabilities, including a model with a 15mm lens with a 1.5x magnification, one with a 19mm lens and 2x magnification, and finally, a 25mm lens with 2.5x magnification. The 15mm model has a fixed focus, while the 19mm and 25mm models are manually focused.
To round out the features, the Seeker comes with different color palettes to enhance the images, large buttons that are easy to hit in the dark, and an 8x digital zoom capability. MSRP of the new AGM Seeker ranges from $1,314 to $1,754.
