The Sidekick 640 comprises an exceptionally small device. Armsight bills it as the smallest fully multi-functional 12-micron 640 thermal imaging monocular on the market. The entire unit weighs just 384 grams. The compact size makes it suitable to use handheld or attach to a helmet for hands-free operation.

A 60Hz frame rate and high-definition 1024×768 OLED help provide a crisp image, according to Armasight. Three buttons control all the operations for easy manipulation in the field, including one-touch, in-unit video recording.
