Sweet Upgrades for Your Sig P365
The Sig Sauer P365 series was 2023’s top-selling handgun. Again. There are good reasons for that. This mighty mite 9mm offers excellent capacity, superior ergonomics, and a proven track record. The P365’s popularity means aftermarket options galore, including sights, optics, enhanced controls, barrels, slides, and more. So, here’s a sampling of available upgrades to make your P365 even better. I run a few of these, while several have been recommended to me. And there are a couple I ran across on the ‘interwebs.’ Again, this is just a sampling. There are plenty of other options. This is meant to make you aware of the kinds of upgrades that are available to you.
One cautionary word: Some of these accessories will not fit every P365 model. So, make certain you know what you’re getting before making the purchase. The websites and product pages will usually provide that information.
Safariland IncogX IWB Holster
The P365 is a concealed carry gun, so you’ll need a good holster. Options abound, but I’ve been running a Safariland IncogX inside the waistband rig. The IncogX is a rugged holster that lets you customize your fit with its 3 Concealment Enhancing Clip strut shims. It’s also compatible with lights and red dots. An attached mag caddy is available. I don’t have the mag caddy since I carry it on my hip.
The IngogX’s microfiber suede finish is comfortable, and the passive trigger guard and ejection port retention hold my Sig in place. The heavy-duty polymer belt clips are sturdy yet easily gripped for no-hassle attachment and removal. My IncogX is compatible with a Streamlight TLR-7 Sub and an optic. Other light options are available.
Raven Concealment VanGuard 2 Minimalist Holster
Sometimes, you need a lower profile, including your holster. That’s where the Raven Concealment Systems VanGuard 2 minimalist holster comes in. The VG2 only covers your trigger guard, but it snaps onto the Sig’s accessory rail for a positive fit. The holster installs and releases easily, and I insert the whole thing, pistol and holster, inside my waistband as a unit. It clips easily onto my belt. I have the Advanced Kit, which adds the RCS Claw, to leverage the pistol’s grip closer to my body while still allowing a clean draw. The VG2 offers great retention, but the draw is easy. I use the VG2 as often as I do the larger IncogX.
Streamlight TLR-7 Sub Weapon Light
The Streamlight TLR-7 Sub is a perfect light for the P365. Streamlight designed this light for subcompact carry pistols, so it’s small, slim, and lightweight. The aircraft-grade aluminum housing is only 1/8 of an inch wider than my gun and is snag-free. The TLR-7 Sub delivers 500 lumens and 5,000 candelas and only weighs 2.39 ounces. The light comes with easy-to-reach, ambidextrous high or low paddle switches. I chose the low switches because the high paddles protruded too far into the trigger guard for my taste.
Sig Sauer RomeoZero Micro-Reflex Red Dot
Most P365s are optic-ready, so adding a red dot is natural. The most natural is the Sig RomeoZero 1×24 since it was designed specifically for the P365. No adapter is needed. The RomeoZero features sturdy, weapons-grade polymer construction with side texture to match your P365’s grip. Mine came with an aluminum protective shroud. The RomeoZero has a 6 MOA dot with 8 brightness settings and Sig’s MOTAC (Motion Activated Illumination System) that activates the dot when it senses motion. I also appreciate the built-in backup rear notch that allows me to use my front sight if the battery dies. But the 20,000-hour battery life makes that unlikely.
Meprolight FT Bullseye Front Sight
If you want to upgrade your sights but don’t want an optic, the Meprolight FT Bullseye might be your thing. I’ve been running mine for about two years now, and I love it. I don’t love handgun optics, though I sometimes run them for product reviews, so the FT Bullseye is my P365XL’s everyday setup.
Meprolight designed the FT Bullseye for American shooters who are trained to focus on a handgun’s front sight. The green tritium is bright in all lighting conditions. I like that it naturally draws my eye to the sight. The sight will fit any P365 holster with no alterations. Just install and go. You may need a gunsmith to mount the FT Bullseye sight, depending on your skill and available tools. That was me, but it wasn’t a big deal. I just don’t own a sight pusher. This sight is one of the best accessories I’ve ever added to a gun.
Gas Pedal for P365
If you have trouble gripping small pistols like the P365, the Gas Pedal might be for you. But heads up, you may need another holster, even though the Gas Pedal only increases the gun’s overall width by about 230 thousandths of an inch, per the Gas Pedal website.
The Gas Pedal provides a rest for your forward thumb, thus providing a more positive grip for better recoil control and follow-up shots. The Gas Pedal concept derives from competition pistols, but it’s easy to install with no gunsmithing needed. Available for right and left-handed shooters.
Tyrant CNC Intellifire Trigger
Nothing improves shootability like an enhanced trigger. The Tyrant Designs CNC Intellifire trigger features dual safety blades, a solid 90-degree break, and 30% less take-up. The trigger has a robust 12L14 steel body, lightweight 6061 aluminum safety blades, and a heat-treated stainless steel internal spring. The trigger incorporates Tyrant CNC’s hybrid trigger ergonomics, featuring a flat face with a subtle bottom curve. Improve your shooting with a better trigger.
Grayguns P365 Extended Mag Release
Some magazine release buttons are better than others. The P365’s is fine, but it’s nothing special. If you have trouble reliably dropping your Sig’s mags, maybe consider upgrading the mag release. Grayguns offers one good option, with a slightly longer button, a checkered face for more positive contact, and improved ergonomics. Grayguns makes their extended mag release from heat-treated tool steel, and the button is reversible for right and left-handed shooters.
Strike Industries Strike Slide for P365
Nothing kicks a handgun’s looks and ergonomics into high gear like an enhanced slide. The Strike Slide is machined from billet 17-4 stainless steel for maximum durability and strength. But it weighs less than the stock slide, reducing recoil momentum. Larger, more aggressive front and rear slide serrations offer a better grip, along with the two rear cocking ears. Two large ports reduce the slide’s weight while allowing better ventilation and showing off any enhanced barrel you may have added. The Strike Slide is also optics-compatible.
True Precision Barrels and Compensators for P365
Since the Strike Slide lets you show off a cool barrel, you might as well get one of those, too. True Precision offers a nice option in several colors, and they even have an available compensator. This drop-in barrel combines advanced cuts, chamfers, and a feed ramp designed to outperform OEM standards for maximum reliability. True Precision’s proprietary broach cut, 6-groove rifling, offers superior performance. The barrels come threaded or with a target crown and are made from USA-sourced 416R stainless steel.
True Precision also offers two styles of multi-port compensators designed specifically for their barrels. The comps are available in colors to match the barrels.
Accessorize!
I get that many folks don’t want a bunch of aftermarket stuff on their guns. I’m that way to a certain degree. But some additions make sense and will help your shooting and improve your carry experience. But maybe this is the gun you want to trick out a little. Nothing wrong with that, either.
This article merely points toward the myriad of options and possibilities provided by aftermarket sources. Just a little research yields all kinds of cool stuff for your gun. It helps that the P365 is so popular. Other companies jump on the accessory bandwagon for guns like that. The options and variations are wide, so get out there and get as wild as you want.
