Teenager Exchanges Gunfire with Home Intruder, No Injuries Reported
CHRISTIAN COUNTY, KY – In a startling early morning incident, a teenager exchanged gunfire with a suspected home invader. The Christian County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the shootout, which occurred in the 1200 block of Lake Morris Road around 4:00 AM on April 16th, 2024.
According to reports from the scene, a teenager residing at the home was awakened by unusual noises within the residence. Reacting to the potential threat, the young resident retrieved a firearm and began to search the premises. During his search, he encountered an intruder, leading to an exchange of gunfire. The suspect reportedly fired first, prompting the teenager to return fire, ultimately causing the assailant to flee the area.
Chris Miller, the Public Information Officer for the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, confirmed the sequence of events and emphasized that fortunately, no injuries were sustained during the incident. “Our deputies responded to a distressing situation where multiple shots were fired. Thankfully, no one was hurt, and we are conducting a thorough investigation to apprehend the suspect,” stated Miller.
As of now, there is no available description of the suspect, and investigators are calling on the community for assistance. The Sheriff’s Office is seeking any witnesses who might have seen a vehicle or individual acting suspiciously around the time of the incident.
