Canik enters pistol optics with ONYX and PHANTOM lines

October 28, 2026

Canik is no longer just a pistol company. The Turkish manufacturer has launched its own pistol optics lineup, starting with four models split between the open-emitter ONYX line and the enclosed, solar-assisted PHANTOM line, according to Gun Digest.

Key points

  • ONYXc: a compact RMSc-footprint optic built for concealed carry, with a 3-MOA dot, 32-MOA circle, or both, 10 auto-adjusting brightness levels, a claimed 50,000-hour battery life on a CR1620, and an MSRP of $259.99.
  • ONYX XL: a competition-oriented RMR-footprint dot with a wide window, 6-MOA reticle, manual brightness control, shake-awake, and the same $259.99 price.
  • PHANTOM and PHANTOMc: enclosed-emitter optics with solar panels backing up the CR1620 battery, RMR and RMSc footprints respectively, selectable reticles, and auto brightness, both priced at $299.99.
  • Battery access: both ONYX models use a side-loading tray so you can swap batteries without pulling the optic off the slide.
  • Company line: Canik USA's Adam Ruonala says the optics are meant to match the "standards" shooters already expect from the brand's pistols.

Quick take

This is Canik doing what a lot of pistol makers are doing now, vertically integrating optics so you're not shopping a third party for glass that fits their guns. The specs on paper, enclosed solar options, side-loading batteries, sub-$300 pricing, look competitive. Whether they hold zero and survive a few thousand rounds is the real test, and that's not something a press launch tells you.
