Beretta Adds the 92XI Squalo Tactical Race Gun to the 92 Lineup

Earlier this year, Beretta expanded its popular 92 line with the 92XI SAO model (below). The model offered a list of performance enhancements that took the platform to the next level. And now, the company takes it even further with its competition-ready Squalo, featuring cutting-edge technology.

The Beretta 92XI Squalo

Italian for shark, the Squalo draws its design inspiration from the sleek and formidable aquatic apex predator. Using the 92X series as its base, the Squalo maintains the recognizable 92 series iconic look and ergonomics. Likewise, Hogue “Squalo” grips provide the interface with a unidirectional aggressive texture for a secure hold during competition.

Just forward of the trigger guard is a three-slot Picatinny rail for the addition of a light or laser. Additionally, the ambidextrous thumb safety offers right- and left-hand operation, while the adjustable mag release lets you customize the orientation for your shooting style. The Squalo delivers increased overall reloading speeds with its Toni System flared magwell, which fits within USPSA rules and regulations.

Running atop the slide is the dovetail rear sight coupled with the dovetail fiber optic front sight. Likewise, the 92XI Squalo features the option for MRDS optics mounting for improved accuracy. Additionally, the slide features aggressive forward and rear cocking serrations for enhanced manipulation.

Setting the skeletonized hammer to task is the flat-faced X-Treme S SAO trigger with DLC components. As a result, the Squalo delivers more consistent engagement and a crisp trigger pull for improved competitive accuracy. Finally, each 92XI Squalo comes with three Mec-Gear 18+4 round magazines.

If you’re looking for even more out of the 92XI Squalo platform, Beretta has collaborated with Langdon Tactical Technology (LLT). Available in a small run, LLT will also offer the 92XI Squalo enhanced by its Custom Gun Work.

“We are excited to bring to the market the first 92XI true tactical race gun that was engineered to dominate the competition and elevate shooters’ performances”, says Nicola Lorenzi, Pistol Product Manager. “The 92XI Squalo is born to win.”

The Beretta 92XI Squalo is available now with an MSRP of $1,299.00 (base) and $1,859.00 (Langdon Tactical Technology). For more info, please visit Beretta.com and LangdonTactical.com.

On May 25, 2023, Combat Handguns reported:

The Beretta 92 is arguably one of the company’s most recognizable pistols—and most popular. However, the company is not one to rest on its laurels and is always looking for ways to improve. For this reason, Beretta released the 92XI SAO with performance enhancements like an optic-ready slide, flat-faced trigger, and frame-mounted safety.

The Beretta 92XI SAO

Carrying forward the aluminum Vertex style frame, the 92XI maintains the iconic look that Beretta shooters expect from a 92. Offered in standard and Launch Editions, the standard slide features a Cerakote finish, while the Launch Edition slide has a Bruniton finish. As a result, each pistol offers rugged longevity under hard use.

Providing ergonomic enhancements, the grip features a straight backstrap while keeping the slight curve on the front strap. However, it does keep the familiar textured grip panels and checkered frame on the front and back straps. As a result, the 92XI offers a secure grip while firing, whether wet or dry.

One noteworthy enhancement is the long-awaited ambidextrous frame-mounted safety. In addition, a 3-slot Picatinny rail is included just forward the trigger guard for the mounting of lights, lasers, or other accessories.

Riding atop the frame is the familiar 92 slide with an exposed 4.7-inch barrel. The slide features forward and rear cocking serrations, for enhanced manipulation. Offering an ample 6.1-inch sight radius, the 92XI includes a fiber optic front sight coupled with a full serrated black rear sight. However, it also includes MRDS mounting capability for the addition of an optic.

Chambered in 9mm, the 92XI comes with your choice of 18-, 15-, or 10-round magazine. Rounds are sent downrange via the Xtreme-S single action only, 4.5-pound flat-faced trigger. The trigger components are DLC coated to ensure long life and smooth action.

The 92XI is available in two colorways, the standard in two-tone and the Launch Edition with Hogue walnut grip panels.

Availability

The Beretta 92XI SAO is available now, with an MSRP of $949.00 (standard) and $1,199.00 (Launch Edition). For more info, please visit Beretta.com.
