SK Customs’ New Raphaello 1911

The Italian Renaissance, which began in the 15th century, saw a revival of classical philosophy, science, and art after centuries of atrophy. It also saw the advancement of new technologies, particularly in the emerging world of firearms. SK Guns is paying tribute to this inflection point with its Early Italian Renaissance Series, which includes the new Raphaello 1911 chambered in .45 ACP.

The 1911 came far too late for the Renaissance, but the era saw rapid advancements in firearms technology. SK Custom’s new Raphaello 1911 pays tribute to that. [SK Guns]

The Raphaello is a tribute to the famed humanist and painter Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino, better known as Raphael. Using a Colt Government Model in .45 ACP as a base, SK’s gun depicts the engravings of Raphael’s artwork on the slide. These works include “The Garvagh Madonna,” “The Three Graces, and “The Miraculous Draught of Fishes.”

“The ‘Raphaello’ is a masterpiece that embodies the essence of Raphael’s artistic brilliance. We designed it with meticulous attention to detail and craftsmanship, aiming to create a firearm that pays homage to the renowned Italian painter and architect,” said SK’s founder, Simon Khiabani. “This limited-edition piece is a testament to the fusion of art and functionality, combining the beauty of Renaissance aesthetics with the precision and reliability of modern firearms.”

The engravings are accented with a proprietary pastel rose color that is reflective and durable. Instead of the classic checkered walnut grips on a standard 1911, the Raphaello stocks are Italian Olivewood with Fleur de Lis inlet on both sides. The Raphaello has a semi-polished finish on the frame and slide, a highly polished Colt match barrel, and 24k gold plating on the skeletonized hammer, barrel bushing, magazine release, and slide release.

The SK Customs Raphaello 1911 joins the catalog of SK’s extensive sampling of limited edition offerings. A production run of only 250 units is planned with an MSRP of $2,405.
