Smith & Wesson Model 1854 Now in .45 Colt
Smith & Wesson has announced its newest model in the Model 1854 lever-action rifle family, this one chambered in .45 Colt. The new rifle joins other Model 1854 rifles chambered in .44 Rem Mag and will be available in stainless steel or walnut stock options.
Taking the classic design of the Model 1854 and giving it modern features and touches, the new Model 1854 in .45 Colt takes the classic looks and marries it with features like a Picatinny rail, adjustable sights, and M-LOK slots for accessories. The Model 1854 was recently voted the 2024 Editor’s Choice Best All-Around rifle by Outdoor Life, and this new caliber option carries that on.
The Model 1854 comes with a 19.25″ long 410 stainless steel barrel threaded 11/16-24 from the factory sitting in a forged stainless steel receiver, while the walnut model has an Armorite finish on both pieces. The rifles feature a crisp and smooth action and flat-face trigger design, come with an adjustable XS Sights ghost ring rear sight and gold bead front sight, and are ready to take on whatever is thrown at them. The stainless steel model has a black synthetic stock and M-LOK forend with textured grip panels, while the walnut model has a walnut stock and forend with textured grip panels.
To round out the features of the Smith & Wesson Model 1854, it has a 4.75″ Picatinny base for easily mounting optics, a removable magazine tube for safely unloading the rifle, and a large loop operating lever. According to S&W, the rifle accepts mounts compatible with the Marlin 1894 hole patterns and has a 9+1 capacity limit. The Model 1854 lever-action rifles from Smith & Wesson are out now in both .44 Rem Mag and the new .45 Colt. The stainless steel version will set you back $1,279, while the walnut furniture version will set you back $1,399.
