Founding Dixie Chicks member Laura Lynch was killed in a head-on collision in Texas, officials tell Fox News Digital.
A spokesperson for the Texas Department of Public Safety told Fox News Digital that Laura Lynch was killed about 7 miles west of Cornudas on Friday morning while driving her car, stating a car hit her head-on while attempting to pass another vehicle on a two-way highway. TMZ first reported her death.
Officials said that Lynch wasn’t wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the car that hit Lynch was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Lynch was 65 when she passed away.
The Dixie Chicks, who have since rebranded to The Chicks, posted a statement on Lynch’s death on Facebook
“We are shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Laura Lynch, a founding member of The Chicks. We hold a special place in our hearts for the time we spent playing music, laughing and traveling together. Laura was a bright light…her infectious energy and humor gave a spark to the early days of our band. Laura had a gift for design, a love of all things Texas and was instrumental in the early success of the band,” The group wrote.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lynch left the group in 1993.
While Lynch was with the Dixie Chicks, they wrote “Thank Heavens for Dale Evans,” “Little Ol’ Cowgirl” and “Shouldn’t a Told You That,” according to the outlet.
