Intruder Ignores Warning And Is Shot in the Face By Homeowner

KNIGHTDALE, N.C. – It pays to take good advice, as a home intruder learned to his cost recently when a homeowner armed himself and gave him a warning.

Just before midnight on Nov. 29, a homeowner in Knightdale, N.C., was alerted to a man breaking a window, trying to enter his home according to ABC 11. The homeowner was armed and went to confront the intruder.

Seeing the man outside the broken window, the homeowner advised that trying to gain further entry would be a foolhardy endeavor. The kindly word of warning was ignored, and the intruder attempted to gain further entry.

The homeowner shot the man trying to break into his home – after repeated warnings – causing the suspect to collapse outside or at least sit-down and begin to contemplate the error of his ways.

Police responded to a service call of a home invasion, and shots fired, finding one Juan Alcevedo, 35, on the scene with a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital and placed in custody.

A few days later, per a follow-up report from ABC 11, the Wake County District Attorney’s office will not be filing or pursuing any charges, as the use of the firearm was completely in keeping with North Carolina’s use of force laws.

Alcevedo, as of Dec. 4, is being held in the Wake County jail and has been charged with felony breaking and entering with intent to terrorize. North Carolina classifies that as a Class H felony, which carries a sentence of up to 36 months.

He Found Out

Alcevedo was warned more than once not to continue to try to gain entry. For whatever reason, which might be drugs or mental illness, he did not feel compelled to listen to that warning and subsequently found out.
