Phoenix Fatal Shooting Ruled Self-Defense After Parking Dispute

A parking dispute in Phoenix escalated into a fatal shooting when a man wielding a knife was shot in self-defense. The police confirmed the shooter acted in self-defense based on witness accounts and video evidence.


PHOENIX, AZ (1-minute read) — A man lost his life after an argument led to a shooting in north Phoenix, with authorities stating the shooter acted in self-defense.

The event unfolded on Saturday night around 9:20 p.m. near 27th Avenue and Beardsley Road. When police arrived at the scene, they detained a man who had a firearm. Nearby, 32-year-old Alejandro Samplina lay on the ground, injured. He was rushed to the hospital but did not survive.

Police investigations indicated that the altercation between Samplina and the shooter began over a parking dispute. During the argument, Samplina pulled out a knife and pursued the man around his car. In response, the man retrieved a firearm from his vehicle. Despite repeated warnings, Samplina continued to advance with the knife, leading the man to fire his gun, hitting Samplina.

Detectives conducted extensive interviews with the shooter, who asserted that he acted in self-defense. Witness testimonies and surveillance footage supported this claim, resulting in the man’s release after the investigation concluded.
