Pulsar's Thermion 3 LRF Adds Rangefinder, Sharper Display to Classic Scope
October 30, 2026
Pulsar has rolled out the Thermion 3 LRF, the third generation of its classic-profile thermal riflescope, and Gun Digest got hands-on time with it at CANCON. Seven years after the original Thermion launched, this version brings a sharper display, longer battery life, and built-in rangefinding to a design that still handles like a traditional scope.
Key points
- Two models: the XT60 flagship runs a 1280×1024 sensor, 2–24X magnification, a 14.6-degree field of view, and 8.5-hour battery life for $6,699.97, while the XR60 "Long Reach" uses a 640×480 sensor with 4-40X magnification and 14-hour battery life for $4,699.97.
- Shared capability: both versions offer a 3,390-yard detection range, a 1,312-yard laser rangefinder, a 2560×2560 AMOLED display, and 9 color palette options.
- Classic controls: the scopes mount on standard 30mm rings and keep traditional zoom/focus rings, a throw lever, and a top-turret focus wheel.
- Built to last: aluminum housing, IP67 waterproofing, a -25 to +50 C operating range, and a recoil rating up to 6,000 J.
- Software extras: an integrated ballistic calculator, Stream Vision 2 app compatibility, and recoil-activated recording to 128 GB of onboard storage.
Quick take
Pulsar is calling this one "perfected," and according to Gun Digest, the spec sheet backs that up for anyone shopping the high end of thermal optics. The XT60 is the detail-and-field-of-view pick, the XR60 trades sensor resolution for reach and longer runtime, but both land in premium territory price-wise.
