Savage's Revel Tactical Adds MDT Furniture and Rail to a Lever-Action Rimfire
October 20, 2026
Savage Arms is building out its rimfire lever-gun lineup for 2026 with the Revel Tactical, a version aimed squarely at owners who want to run optics and a can on a classic cowboy-style action.
Key points
- Chamberings: The Revel Tactical is offered in .17 HMR, .22 LR and .22 WMR, feeding from an under-barrel tube that holds 12 rounds of .22 LR or nine rounds of the magnum calibers.
- MDT furniture: The skeletonized polymer buttstock and fore-end come from Savage's regular collaborator Modular Driven Technologies, with an adjustable length-of-pull, snap-on cheekpiece, textured pistol grip and M-Lok slots.
- Ready for accessories: The 18-inch barrel is threaded 1/2x28 for suppressors like Savage's own AC22, and a 0-MOA Picatinny rail ships installed over the receiver for optics.
- Takedown design: Like other Revel models, it breaks into two pieces via captive push pins for cleaning or transport, and it still carries a cross-bolt safety and DLX-style adjustable iron sights as backup.
- Pricing: MSRP runs $629 for .22 LR and $659 for .17 HMR or .22 WMR, according to American Rifleman.
Quick take
Savage isn't reinventing the lever gun here, it's just making one that plays nicer with modern glass and suppressors, which is exactly what a lot of rimfire shooters have been asking for. The MDT furniture and factory-installed rail save buyers the usual aftermarket scramble, and the price stays reasonable for what you get.
