The Rough Series from Bond Arms has served to put Bond’s vault-tough derringers in the hands of more shooters. These matte-finished double-barrel pistols are mechanically simple and give you two rounds in a number of different calibers ranging from .22 LR to .45 Colt. New for 2024 is the Rowdy XL in .410/.45 Colt.
The Rowdy is a Rough Series handgun that can shoot either .410-bore shotgun shells or .45 Colt pistol ammunition. The new Rowdy XL is the same bulletproof design but enlarged for ease of shooting. The XL, like most other pistols in the Bond Arms catalog, is an all-stainless steel derringer with a two-shot capacity that features a rebounding hammer and manual shell extractor. While the original Rowdy features polymer grip panels and a bird’s head grip frame for ease of concealability, the new XL features Bond’s new wrap-around B6 extended grip for improved recoil control and handling. The Rowdy also came with a 3-inch barrel, which limited the effectiveness of 2.5-inch .410 shells. The XL comes with a 3.5-inch barrel for an improved shot pattern and better accuracy potential overall, whether you use .410 or .45 Colt ammunition.
The Bond Arms Rowdy XL, although bigger than the original, is still compact at a weight of 22 ounces and an overall length of only six inches. Whether you are looking for a backup concealed carry handgun or your next wilderness companion, the XL takes up little weight on the belt and the inclusion of an improved grip and more barrel make it easier to handle and to shoot.
